Young and Resilient launches a new space for youthful opinions
If you're aged between 12 - 24 years old Y&R is launching a new space on our website for you to express your opinions and views about issues that matter to you.
We're offering free rein on topics - your piece could be about a political or social justice issue, something you feel especially joyful, angry or frustrated about, or some part of your lived experience that you would like to share with the wider world and get some attention on.
Submissions can be written (300 - 1000 words in length) or in video format (1-3 minutes in length, MP4 format).
Selected pieces will be published on our website and those authors will receive a $50 gift voucher. We ask that you allow us to publish your first name, age and location along with your piece.
Read our first submission entitled Infinite Media: Death and Desensitisation in the Internet Age by James De Fraine a 21 year old, Sydney based, fourth year journalism student (& Y&R intern).
Please note that Y&R reserves the right notto publish any submissions and we will not publish any material that breaches Western Sydney University's web publishing policy (for example, work that is deemed discriminatory, offensive or defamatory).
Questions and submissions can be directed to Y&R's Communications Lead, Claire Absolum at c.absolum@westernsydney.edu.au. Submissions are now open until the end of 2026.
We can't wait to hear what you have to say!
