Introduction:
Welcome to the International Symposium on Carbon Accounting, Reporting and Sustainability 2026 hosted by Western Sydney University - a pioneering event designed to ignite innovation, foster collaboration, and drive strategic dialogue within the vibrant realm of academic research. Western Sydney University stands as a beacon of research excellence, dedicated to cultivating a community where groundbreaking ideas flourish and transformative collaborations take root.
Our symposium aims to provide academics, policymakers, practitioners and businesses with a valuable forum for discussions and critical analyses of the major issues and challenges that interrelate carbon accounting, climate and carbon reporting, assurance of Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, carbon credit and trading and sustainability.
During the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, engage with thought-provoking keynote sessions, and collaborate in panel discussions. The goal is to uncover new opportunities and navigate the complexities of modern business and research. You will also have the chance to connect with industry leaders, business professionals, academics, and future employers. Researchers and PhD students will have the opportunity to present their research and receive feedback from prominent researchers, not only from within Australia but also from around the world.
The conference will feature a doctoral workshop on its final day, offering PhD students the chance to meet peers, receive feedback from experienced discussants, and learn from one another.

- Professor Qingliang Tang is a Professor at the Discipline of Accounting and Team Leader, Carbon Accounting, Carbon Accounting & Sustainability Research Group (CASR) at the School of Business, Western Sydney University. The WSU Carbon Accounting & Sustainability Research Group (CASR), under the leadership of Professor Qingliang Tang, holds a leading position globally in many aspects of carbon accounting research (https://casr.group/). Members of the group rank among the Top 50 most-cited authors in the field of carbon accounting in business journals, top contributors to carbon accounting publications. Our group members (Qingliang Tang, Vivian Tam, Laura Luo) have been named among the World's Top 2% Scientists. - Krishan is a highly committed, solution-focused Lecturer with an illustrious career spanning 25+ years in dynamic business environments, leading teams and students to set new performance benchmarks while delivering outstanding results. Expertise in leading, co-designing, and implementing advanced experiential learning and international mobility programs to develop global competencies, employment, business opportunities and networks. He has positively impacted students' learning and employability by engaging and co-designing learning programs with industry partners that helped students understand their professions and build People-to-People relationships in Australia and overseas. He has extensive experience in financial management, reporting for multimillion-dollar organisations and teaching in both financial and management accounting. His research focuses on carbon accounting and assurance. Motivational and engaging lecturer driving students to excel. His recent awards include: Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President Academic Award (Excellence in Teaching); Vice-Chancellor's Excellence Award, Citation for Meritorious Service to the University during the COVID-19 Pandemic; School of Business Awards - Citations for Teaching and Citation for Engagement and Partnerships Awards and Rotary Parramatta Vocational Excellence Award (Education). He was a finalist in the India Australia Business & Community Awards (IABCA) Business Leader of the Year in 2022. In 2025, he received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of excellence and teamwork as a valued member of the WSU Business School Professional Careers Team.
