Transform your dementia care using music

Want to transform your dementia care using music?

We're delighted to offer a training program for caregivers, including staff, volunteers, and family members in home care, residential, and respite settings who care for people diagnosed with dementia.

Our training teaches the use of personalised music playlists to enhance dementia care and is designed by Dr. Sandra Garrido (Western Sydney University) and Holly Markwell (The Dementia Centre, HammondCare), with input from people with dementia and caregivers.

Funded by the Dementia Australia Foundation, our research aligns with the Royal Commission’s aims and supports the wider adoption of music-based interventions across aged care.

Why Participate?

Program Overview

  1. Training: 1-hour online training to learn how to create and effectively use personalised music playlists.
  2. Implementation: Over 4 weeks, offer the playlists to the person diagnosed with dementia in your care to support their mood, behaviour, and / or routines. Complete a survey and brief interview at the end.

Listening equipment is available to support the 4-week playlist implementation.
