Enter your preferences or select your classes

What you need to do next depends on your teaching period. Check the key dates to find out which process applies to you.

Autumn and Spring teaching periods:

You may be able to enter preferences for your preferred class times. Rank or select the times that suit you to help inform your class allocation.

Entering preferences does not guarantee that you’ll receive your preferred class times. If you don’t enter preferences, you’ll still be allocated into classes based on availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see my subjects or classes?

Make sure you’re registered in your subjects in MySR. If you’ve just registered or updated your registration, it can take a little time to appear in My Timetable.

Check your registered subjects on the Enrolments page in My Timetable. If they don’t match what you see in MySR, come back and check again later.

How do I know whether to enter preferences or select classes?

Check what appears under Action Required in My Timetable.

  • Plan means build or update your class plan
  • Preference means rank the class times that work best for you
  • Select means choose your class now or update your selection

What you see depends on your teaching period and subject requirements.

When can I plan my timetable, enter preferences or select classes?

Check the timetable key dates for your teaching period to find out when you can Plan, enter Preferences, or Select your classes.

What’s available to you will appear under Action Required in My Timetable at the relevant time.

Do timetable preferences guarantee my preferred class?

No. Preferences help us understand what works best for you, but they don’t guarantee a specific class. If a class is in high demand, you may be allocated to another available option.

Entering multiple suitable preferences improves your chances of getting a timetable that works for you.

What happens if I don’t enter preferences?

If you don’t enter preferences, you’ll still be allocated to available classes. This means you won’t be able to influence your class times.

Entering preferences gives you a better chance of getting a timetable that suits you.

Why wasn’t I allocated my first preference?

Some classes are more popular than others. When demand is high, not everyone can be placed in their first choice, so you may be allocated to another suitable option.

Allocations are designed to ensure all students receive a complete timetable where possible.

Why was I allocated to a class I didn’t select or preference?

In some cases, you may be automatically allocated to a class to help complete your timetable before the start of term.

If you don’t want that class, go to My Timetable to choose another option, request a swap, or leave the class.

How do I change or swap a class?

During View and adjust your class timetable, choose your subject to view other class options, then select a new time or request a swap by selecting the heart icon.

You can make changes until the Last day to change your class timetable. After this, changes are limited and may require approval.

What if the class I want is full?
If the class you want is full, select the heart icon to request a swap. If a place is available, you’ll be moved straight away. If not, you’ll be added to the waitlist and moved if a place becomes available.
What should I do if my classes clash?

Update one of the clashing classes by selecting a different time.

If there are no alternative options available, you may need to request help or explore alternative subjects.

Can I view classes for a subject I’m not enrolled in?

Yes. You can view available classes using the web timetable. This allows you to explore class times and plan your timetable before registering.

You’ll only be able to select or preference classes once you’re registered in the subject.

When can I make changes to my timetable?

You can make changes during View and adjust your class timetable.

You can continue to update your classes until the Last day to change your class timetable. After this, changes are limited.

Who can help if I can’t resolve my timetable?
If you still need help after checking My Timetable, contact the Student Services Hub or your Subject Coordinator. They can guide you on your options and next steps.
