Ms Sarah Versitano

Biography

Sarah Versitano is a Lecturer for the Master of Art Therapy Program in the School of Social Sciences at WSU. She is an ANZACATA Registered Arts Therapist based at Westmead Children’s Hospital, child and adolescent acute psychiatric unit, and has recently commenced a PhD researching her work there. Sarah was also part of the Expressive Therapy team at KidsXpress for several years, where she combined art, music, drama, play and dance/movement therapies to help children process complex trauma.  Alongside her clinical experience, Sarah maintains a passion for evidence-based practice, and a strong commitment to research. Sarah has supported various research projects at WSU, and was also part of the team conducting research at KidsXpress that was presented to the 2016 International Childhood Trauma Conference in Melbourne. She has also worked as an Arts and Health Researcher at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Hospital supporting the development of the Music Therapy program there. Sarah’s personal arts practice centres around photomedia and digital arts, and she is interested in ongoing opportunities to explore these mediums in the context of both exhibitions, and arts-based research.
