Professor Liz Halcomb was employed at the University of Western Sydney between 2004 and 2013. Liz was awarded a PhD in 2006 for a mixed method project exploring the general practice nurse role in heart failure. Since that time her teaching and research interests have focussed on general practice nursing, nursing workforce, chronic disease, nurse education and mixed methods research. In 2013 she took up the position of Professor of Primary Health Care Nursing at the University of Wollongong. Professor Halcomb remains an Adjunct Professor at the Western Sydney University.

Professor Halcomb is an experienced academic nurse leader who is committed to developing researchers in both academia and the clinical setting. Professor Halcomb leads a strong research program in primary care nursing, with particular emphasis on nursing in general practice, chronic disease and nursing workforce issues.
