Biography

Dr Rosalie Power is an Associate Research Fellow with the Translational Health Research Institute (THRI), Western Sydney University.  Rosalie’s research focuses on health and wellbeing in the context of marginalisation including for children and young people with disability, LGBTQ communities and new migrant and refugee communities.  Rooted in disability justice, Rosalie’s research is driven by an interest to understand and reduce inequalities within an emancipatory research paradigm.

Rosalie completed a PhD with the University of Sydney in the area of wellbeing, sexual and reproductive health and disability.  Rosalie’s approach to research is supported by numerous years of experience in community and non-government organisations, including in health promotion, evaluation and public health roles in urban and remote Australia, Bangladesh and South Africa.  Rosalie has a background working with people with intellectual disability, including LGBTQ people with disability, in areas of sexuality and relationships.
