Biography

Philippa is a Lecturer and PhD Candidate in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Western Sydney University.

She is an experienced Registered Nurse in Neonatal Intensive Care, with experience in both perinatal and surgical Neonatal Intensive Care. Prior to commencing full time with Western Sydney University, she worked as a Clinical Nurse Educator at the Grace Centre for Newborn Intensive Care at Westmead Children's Hospital. It was here that her passion for improving infant and family outcomes through family-centred care and developmental care education and research was furthered. 

Philippa completed her Bachelor of Nursing with the University of Western Sydney (now Western Sydney University), a Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Nursing with the Univeristy of Technology Sydney, and her Masters of Nursing (Clinical Leadership) with Distinction with the University of Western Sydney, where she was recipient of the Deans Medal. She is a current PhD Candidate with Western Sydney University (supervisors: Professor Virginia Schmied, Dr Jann Foster, Dr Kim Psaila) with her thesis titled "Cobedding of Twins in the Neonatal Period: A mixed methods study exploring current practice and perceptions in the hospital and home settings".
