Biography

Julianne Abood holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology/Sociology and Masters in International Relations. Julianne has over 25 years' work experience in the family and community service sectors of Blue Mountains and Western Sydney. She has worked with early childhood services, youth, aged care, migrant and refugee services, women's health and mental health promotion. The focus of much of this work has been to help build the capacity of mainstream organisations to work more inclusively and effectively with diverse communities. Julianne has developed numerous practical resources, presented at conferences and delivered training.  Julianne teaches at WSU in the School of Science and Health in the core unit 'Culture, Diversity and Health'. Her interests are in health promotion, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self determination, and gender equality.
