Biography

Vanessa has over two decades of experience in the field of marketing, advertising, event management and public relations. She has worked for large media groups such as 101.7 WSFM, through to government authorities like Penrith City Council.  

She is currently the Area Convenor: Public Relations at Western Sydney University and strives to provide students with a sound theoretical knowledge in Strategic Communication while demonstrating how this works in the real world. Engaging guest lectures, contemporary case studies and relevant excursions are just some of the ways she brings her class rooms to life. 

She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a winner of a WSU Teaching and Learnig Award and an avid researcher in the social media engagement space.

Vanessa's area of research interest is social media engagement and real-world relationship building. She is currently completing a PhD in the area with WSU. Other publications that she has in this area include:
