Biography

Dr. William Nketsia (Cert ‘A’, B.Ed., MA, Ph.D.) is a coordinator, senior lecturer, and tutor of inclusive education subjects across two Master’s degree programs – Master of Teaching (Secondary) and Master of Inclusive Education programs in the School of Education, Western Sydney University. He is a researcher at the Centre of Educational Research.

Dr. Nketsia has been the Academic Course Advisor and a mentor to community language volunteer teachers in NSW Community Languages Schools who are undertaking a Master of Teaching (Secondary) in Western Sydney University to gain professional accreditation to teach in mainstream schools in NSW. He is currently the coordinator for Quality Effective and Successful Teachers (QuEST) and Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA).

Dr. Nketsia is a Governance Committee (GC) member of the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association (MDAA) of NSW. The Governance Committee is the highest governing body of MDAA responsible for advocating for the rights of people with disability from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse/ Non-English-speaking (CALD/NES) backgrounds. Apart from attending meetings to discuss policies, Dr, Nketsia provides expert advice on inclusion and oversees research.

Dr. Nketsia has previously worked at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland as a lecturer in inclusive education, interaction, and learning, the guidance of learning: planning, implementation, and evaluation, and school, community, and society. He also has teaching experience in primary and secondary schools in Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Nketsia has been conducting research for some years now and has published in top-notch journals in the field of special needs, disability, inclusive education, and teacher education. Currently, Dr. Nketsia is an International advisory board member, Editorial board member, Guest Associate Editor, Review Editor, and Peer Reviewer for international high-ranking journals in the field of special needs education, disability, development, inclusive education, and teacher education.

His research interests include; special education and inclusive education, initial teacher preparation for inclusive education, implementation of inclusive education, self-efficacy studies on inclusive education, School-Based learning, action research, inclusive pedagogical practices in classrooms, mentoring, supervision and professional development, international perspectives on inclusive education policy and practice, cross-cultural implementation of inclusive education policy and sustainable implementation of inclusive education and practice.
