Biography
Dr Wei Zhou is a Lecturer in Construction Management and Technology, the School of Engineering, Design & Built Environment. He obtained his PhD at the University of Wolverhampton, U.K. in 2010 with research direction of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the built environment. Dr Zhou has multidisciplinary and international career experiences in computing, civil engineering, usability engineering and building information modelling (BIM) in Europe and Asia. He built his unique expertise in the interdisciplinary area of BIM over a decade both academically and professionally. His specialty and interests particularly lie in digital twin and digital transformation in the AECO industry as well as Smart City development.
Dr Zhou is the invited journal reviewer for Automation Construction, ASCE Computing in Civil Engineering, etc. Exposing in the AECO industry adopting BIM, Dr Zhou as keynote speaker actively promotes digital transformation in both academic and commercial conferences based on his insightful industry experiences and understandings.
As guest lecturer in 2019 and 2020, he developed and delivered the BIM module in a joint program for the Aston University, UK and industrial BIM lecture for the University of Reading, U.K. on Malaysia Campus. In 2021 he was appointed as adjunct professor by the University Technology of Malaysia (UTM) for his contributions in the digital transformation for regional projects and knowledge dissemination in Johor, Malaysia. He is now enthusiastic to work with the Western colleagues for research and teaching in the School of Engineering, Design & Built Environment.
