Biography

Greetings! I am Dr. Stacey Sherwood, a linguist and educator currently serving as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts at Western Sydney University. I received my PhD in 2021 from The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development and have since demonstrated a passion for research, teaching, and community engagement throughout my academic journey.

My scholarly pursuits have consistently contributed to the advancement of linguistic knowledge, with notable research projects including the exploration of socially-indexed meaning in first and second language speakers, the investigation of stop contrasts in Indigenous Australian languages, and the examination of linguistic variables in Japanese sociolinguistics. My commitment to research is evident through my publications in reputable journals, collaborations with esteemed institutions, and active participation in grants and awards.

In the realm of teaching, I have earned acclaim for my dedication to fostering a dynamic learning environment. I effectively communicate complex linguistic concepts to diverse student cohorts, ranging from undergraduates to postgraduates.
