Biography

Louise has taught in the fields of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations for over twenty years and has published on a range of areas including management strategy in the retail industry, Vocational Education and Training (VET), bargaining structures, trade union strategy, Corporate Social Responsibility in the construction industry and work and employment in creative industries. Completed in 2023, her PhD research explored the working lives of Australian independent filmmakers and how they sustain employment over the longer term via the lens of critical realism. The thesis received a Chancellor's Commendation for an Exceptional Higher Degree by Research from Curtin University. Louise has many interests in exploring the complexity of the world of work and people management from diverse perspectives and her teaching interests cover many aspects of contemporary Employment Relations. She is committed to enriching the student experience through designing engaging and meaningful curriculum centred on discipline expertise, industry engagement and professional development. In 2018, she received a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning in the Annual Vice Chancellor's Excellence Awards for creating the Alumni-Partnership model of pedagogy in the HR Capstone unit Processes & Evaluation in Employment Relations. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, writing poetry and listening to both hip hop and country music, though not at the same time. She only ever completes crosswords and sudukos using a pen and has a vast collection of memes stored on her phone ready for any occasion. Her life dream is to become a successful podcaster.
