Doctor Katherine Raw

Biography
Dr. Katherine Raw is a Lecturer in Sport Development at Western Sydney University. Her research focuses upon the use and management of sport as a vehicle to foster a variety of community outcomes, including social cohesion, gender equity, inclusion, health, prevention of domestic violence, and diplomacy. Her work has been conducted in partnership with a number of organisations, including Tennis Australia, the National Rugby League, Netball Australia, North Melbourne Football Club, and the Commonwealth Secretariat. Katherine’s fieldwork has been completed across a range of locations both locally and internationally, some of which include Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and East Timor. Since 2012, Katherine has gained a range of teaching experience, having taught units within sport management, health, and exercise science programs at La Trobe University and Australian Catholic University. Currently, Katherine lectures across a number of Sport Development subjects at Western Sydney University.
