Kamel completed his PhD in Urban Studies in 2015. He is qualified and experienced in Property and town planning, he holds a diploma in Property Services, Post Grad Certificate in Development Planning and a Master in Urban and Regional Planning.

Kamel's research focuses on urban lifestyle, consumption for social distinction and urban cultures and subcultures within a socio-geographical context. Kamel's doctoral thesis investigated Master Planned estates in Australia as a consumer product and it relation to Bourdieu's concept of social distinction.
