The Steglick Family

Over the past seven years, the Steglick Family has endowed three scholarships at the University of Sydney and University of NSW. Dr Mark Steglick is a graduate of both Universities and a Master's and PhD graduate from Western Sydney University. The focus across all these scholarships is assisting Indigenous women in pursuing tertiary studies in the fields of health and education.
Tertiary education is one way to overcome Indigenous disadvantage and our aspiration is that these scholarship recipients will be able to lead and inspire their community members to also pursue an education.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.

Applications will be assessed by the Indigenous Scholarships Assessment Panel.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate the rationale for seeking an equity-based scholarship (including but not limited to socio-economic challenges).

Further information and how to apply can be found on our Indigenous Scholarships page.
