Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Confirmation of Identity:

• identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and submit documentation declaring and confirming Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity.

Enrolment:

• new student

Program/s:

• any undergraduate degree

Additional:

• identify as female.
• demonstrate rationale for seeking an equity-based scholarship (including but not limited to socio-economic challenge) which will be assessed by the DVC Indigenous Leadership and Director, Badanami
• Shortlisted (top three) applicants, as determined by the DVC Indigenous Leadership and Director, Badanami may be required to make a written submission in support of their application, outlining why they chose their degree.

GO Foundation

The GO Foundation was founded by Sydney Swans legends, Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin. As proud Aboriginal men, their names are synonymous with integrity, equality and opportunity.

With their scholarship funds, our scholars can cover their educational needs, including laptops, Wi-Fi access at home, and subject fees. The GO scholarship is the entry point to the GO Ecosystem, a model of collaborative impact where our partners work with us to provide GO scholars with a broad range of opportunities.

Our Ecosystem partners, including CareerTrackers, work together to broaden our scholars’ perspectives and provide access to many opportunities including cultural mentoring, leadership training, work experience and paid internships. This mentoring and support continue after the GO scholarship has ended.

At the heart of the GO Ecosystem is a burning desire to strengthen our students’ cultural identity - to connect them in a meaningful way to their history, culture and heritage. In addition, by sharing our students’ perspective and their culture with our Ecosystem partners, we hope to create workplaces that are truly inclusive and welcoming of all Australians.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate the rationale for seeking an equity-based scholarship (including but not limited to socio-economic challenges).

• Recipients must remain enrolled at Western.
• Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 4.
