Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Confirmation of Identity:

• identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and submit documentation declaring and confirming Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity.

• new student

• Bachelor of Physiotherapy
• Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
• Bachelor of Psychology
• Bachelor of Speech Pathology

Additional:

• demonstrate equity considerations such as economic, social or other disadvantage.

• The GO Foundation looks for several attributes and values when selecting students to receive a scholarship and become part of the GO family. Applicants are strongly encouraged to address the following:

  • Financial need: GO Foundation scholarships are not means tested, but applicants who demonstrate financial need are more likely to be awarded a scholarship.
  • Work ethic: Applicant should demonstrate an aspiration to work hard and achieve. Academic performance is helpful evidence, but it is not the only way in which an applicant might demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Desire to give back to the community: Applicant should care about their community, family and friends. Community service, volunteer work and certain extracurricular activities or memberships of organisations by applicant will be considered.
  • Passion for learning: Applicant should demonstrate a desire to learn and continue learning.
  • Cultural identity: Applicant should demonstrate a strong cultural identity or a desire to understand more about their cultural heritage.

The GO Foundation was founded by Sydney Swans legends, Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin. As proud Aboriginal men, their names are synonymous with integrity, equality and opportunity.

Although Australia is a land of abundant wealth, many Indigenous Australians face a lack of opportunity and access. The GO Foundation provides scholarships to Indigenous students from kindergarten through to university, to students who live with family, in community and on country. With their scholarship funds, our students can cover their educational needs, including laptops, Wi-Fi access at home, and subject fees. The GO scholarship is the entry point to the GO Ecosystem, a model of collaborative impact where our partners work with us to provide GO students with a broad range of opportunities.

Our Ecosystem partners, including CareerTrackers and The Public Education Foundation, work together to broaden our students’ perspectives and provide access to many opportunities including cultural mentoring, leadership training, work experience and paid internships. Once a GO student, Always a GO student, so this mentoring and support continues long after the GO scholarship has ended.

At the heart of the GO Ecosystem is a burning desire to strengthen our students’ cultural identity - to connect them in a meaningful way to their history, culture and heritage. In addition, by sharing our students’ perspective and their culture with our Ecosystem partners, we hope to create workplaces that are truly inclusive and welcoming of all Australians.

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate the rationale for seeking an equity-based scholarship (including but not limited to socio-economic challenges).

• Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 4.
