Research Ethics and Integrity
Research Ethics and Integrity supports the responsible conduct of research across Western Sydney University. The University is committed to fostering a culture of integrity, accountability and respect, enabling research that is ethical, rigorous and impactful.
Research undertaken by University researchers and students must comply with the Responsible Conduct of Research Policy and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018). Academic Senate has endorsed the Singapore Statement on Research Integrity and the Montreal Statement on Research Integrity in Cross-Boundary Research Collaborations.
Research Ethics and Integrity provides governance, guidance and support to assist researchers in navigating the ethical, integrity and compliance requirements of the research lifecycle.

Human Ethics
Research involving people
Provides ethical review and oversight of research involving human participants, their data, tissue or other personal information. Supports researchers in ensuring that research is conducted ethically, safely and in accordance with relevant standards and requirements.
Animal Ethics
Research involving animals
Supports the ethical care and use of animals in research and teaching. Provides oversight, guidance and review processes to ensure activities are conducted responsibly and in accordance with legislative and ethical requirements.
Biosafety & Radiation Safety
Research involving biological and safety risks
Provides governance and oversight for activities involving biological materials, genetically modified organisms, radiation and other regulated research activities. Supports safe and compliant research practices across the University.
Research Integrity
Responsible conduct of research
Promotes a culture of responsible research practice and supports researchers throughout the research lifecycle. Provides guidance on research conduct, authorship, data management, publication practices, conflicts of interest and emerging issues such as AI in research.
