Western Sydney University and Western Sydney Wanderers extend partnership for three years
Western Sydney University and Western Sydney Wanderers will continue kicking goals together, extending their partnership for another three years.
Building on the foundations laid throughout the collaboration so far, Western Sydney University will become a major partner of the Western Sydney Wanderers Girls Academy and support the Wanderers Ninja A-League Team.
The partnership will unlock opportunities for Western Sydney University students, including internships and career development, a scholarship, and enhanced access to game days.
Western Sydney University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Distinguished Professor George Williams AO, said the partnership with Western Sydney Wanderers highlights the importance of education and sport working hand in hand.
“Western Sydney University is proud to extend our partnership with the Western Sydney Wanderers. Our shared vision of connecting education, sport and community will uplift the region,” said Professor Williams.
“Together we’re championing grassroots sport and lifelong learning, creating opportunities that will shape brighter futures for young people.”
Western Sydney Wanderers Chief Executive Officer, Scott Hudson, is delighted to continue the partnership with Western Sydney University.
“This collaboration goes beyond football, it’s about creating pathways for young people in Western Sydney to succeed both on and off the field,” said Mr Hudson.
“By combining education and sport, we’re building stronger communities and inspiring the next generation of leaders.”
As part of the partnership, the University will sponsor a player from both the Women’s and Men’s teams.
The partnership will also:
- Designate Western Sydney University as the Official Education Partner, Girls Academy Partner, and category partner with Western Sydney Wanderers.
- Give six Western Sydney University students the chance to take part in an internship program, both paid and unpaid.
- Provide a $5,000 scholarship funded by Western Sydney Wanderers.
- Assist student learning by participating in mock press conferences and other projects.
This renewed partnership reinforces a shared commitment to empowering young people in Western Sydney through education, sport, and community connection.
