Each year, Bachelor of Design graduates showcase their best work to industry and the community at a special event. In 2020, this event, the Graduation Show, was held entirely online.

Learning about lighting and style

Spring, 2018. An all day Industry Visit from Sydney based Fashion Photographer Ben Scott. Ben conducted a full day workshop with our students speaking to them about the industry, building a vision, and demonstrating lighting techniques.

Course Frequently Asked Questions

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).

This course is unique from the perspective that you choose two specialisations. The Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) does not have majors. Students must choose two specialisations from the list of four specialist areas: Illustration, Interactive, Photomedia and Digital Design.

Graduates of this degree can look forward to career opportunities as an illustrator, art director, design educator, photographer, and interactive, games, web, or graphic designer.

This degree is exclusively for high-achieving students and will continually challenge you to build on your academic success. Students in the Dean’s Scholars program are automatically enrolled in The Academy at Western Sydney University, which offers interdisciplinary leadership programs, professional development, and local and international internship and engagement opportunities for students.

HSC True Reward Early Offer Program

The HSC True Reward early offer program gives school leavers much needed peace of mind, providing an early offer into most courses at Western Sydney University based on Year 11 or Year 12 subject results.

Applications are now open to receive an early offer to begin in 2023.
