Honorary and Adjunct Appointments
Honorary adjunct appointments benefit the University by increasing cooperation and activities between the University and leaders and members of academia, professions, business, industry, community, and the public sector, within Australia and overseas.
We value the contribution that recognised academic experts are able to provide to the Institute's research and research training programs.
Emeritus Professor Jann Conroy
Professor Emeritus Jann Conroy continues to make a valuable contribution to the Institute. Her research has focused on understanding how climate change will influence the trade-off between growth and water use of fast- and slow- growing eucalypts.
Dr Steven Douglas is a Visiting Fellow with the Institute. He has worked in plant ecology and conservation management for over 20 years, with employment at all levels of government and as a consultant. He has specialised in rare and threatened plant species, populations and ecological communities, and has successfully nominated many additions or amendments to the status of threatened biota under NSW and Commonwealth laws.
Adjunct Associate Professor Catriona Macdonald
Adjunct A/Professor Catriona Macdonald works across natural, agricultural and managed ecosystems, whereby she aims to improve understanding of how factors such as climate change and land management impact microbial-mediated nutrient transformations, and how this feeds back to ecosystem functioning.
Dr Paul Milham is an Adjunct Fellow with the Institute and School of Science and Health. Paul uses strong research skills in chemistry to investigate key soil processes that underpin interactions between soil, plants, and the environment.
Dr Ian Oliver is a Visiting Fellow within the Institute. He is collaborating on a range of projects with Drs Jeff Powell, Uffe Nielsen, Yolima Carrillo Espanol and Paul Rymer.
Distinguished Professor International Peter Reich
Professor Peter Reich is the former Chief Scientist of the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment where he served in a scientific advisory and mentoring role. At the University of Minnesota, Department of Forest Resources, he is the F.B, Hubachek Sr. Chair and Regents Professor. He studies the effects of climate change, carbon dioxide, land use, fire and biotic invasion on the biodiversity, structure and function of forest and grassland ecosystems.
Adjunct Professor Brajesh Singh
Adjunct Professor Brajesh Singh's research has advanced critical areas of ecosystem science, particularly linking soil biodiversity (microbial and faunal) to key ecosystem functions and services and has developed tools to improve farm productivity and environmental sustainability. This includes climate adaptation tools for the agriculture industry, management solutions to increase soil organic matter, increased export market access for agriculture produces, and training for farmers, consultants and policy advisors in sustainable agriculture and the Sustainable Development Goal.
