Friends of the Waterkeeper Alliance

The Hawkesbury-Nepean Waterkeeper Alliance is working to create sense of belonging and ownership in the community, through on-ground activities and education, to improve the values of the river through connectedness and science. But we can't do this alone!

We are looking to build an engaged network - 'Friends of the Waterkeeper Alliance' (FWA) - that will support the development of collegial and cooperative partnerships between key organisational stakeholders along the Hawkesbury-Nepean River, sharing our expertise and local knowledge to help us in identifying and guiding emerging priorities and directions for our activities and areas of priority. Membership is free.

By becoming a FWA you will join a network of passionate and liked-minded organisations who are committed to:

  • supporting the Hawkesbury-Nepean Waterkeeper Alliance in achieving its objectives upholding the core vision for the Hawkesbury-Nepean River system.
  • providing advice and expertise on what they consider to be the priority challenges to the Hawkesbury-Nepean River system and its tributaries.
  • being part of a unified voice and representative of the community, in relation to whole-of-river issues including disseminating information and resources relating to the Hawkesbury-Nepean Waterkeeper Alliance objectives.
  • celebrating the ecological and social value of the Hawkesbury-Nepean River and its tributaries.

Who is eligible?

A ‘friend’ is considered someone who belongs to the Alliance as an organisational member and is committed to healthy waterways in the Hawkesbury-Nepean. Applications are open to any interested non-government and government organsations, industry, or community, landcare or Streamwatch group to join. Your work should be situtated within the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment (particularly favourable is active work occuring between Warragamba and Wisemans Ferry).
