Hawkesbury Farm
Hawkesbury Farm is a best practice demonstration of a commercial grazing operation in a peri-urban landscape.
Principles of sustainable and regenerative agro-ecology are practised, including irrigation with recycled water; minimal tillage, mulching and organics for soil health; and a mixed pasture ecology supporting grazing management and fodder conservation.
Stock husbandry includes stud Angus and Limousin cattle, with the Farm a teaching and learning resource for Western Sydney University Sustainable Agriculture and the Centre of Excellence for Peri-Urban Futures.
As a Living Lab itself, particular initiatives within the Farm include those relating to IoT and Precision Agriculture and the Livestock Team.
