Biodiversity Stewardship Site

In 2021 the University finalised an agreement to place 117 hectares of remnant Cumberland Plain bushland into a Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement. This important initiative ensures that several endangered and critically endangered Plant Community Types (PCTs) and associated ecological communities are protected and managed in perpetuity.

The area and the management actions identified in the Biodiversity Stewardship Agreement are being rolled into environmental science curriculum as part of the integrated learning experience for our students. Academics and researchers from the School of Science and the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment are collaborating with Environmental Sustainability to ensure the best outcomes for the area and students are maintained into the future.
