2024 - Better Together

Our latest report, Better Together, marks a significant milestone for Western, as our tenth annual sustainability report. This year’s edition reflects on a decade of progress and highlights our continued commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient future across our four key pillars: Curriculum, Operations, Research, and Engagement. As we celebrate this ten-year journey, the report also features and recognises our leadership in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, our responses to rising sustainability challenges such as food insecurity and AI, and acknowledges the important work that still lies ahead of us.

2023 - Amplifying Impact

Amplifying Impactcelebrates our continuing global leadership in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. The expanded report highlights the breadth and depth of our collective sustainability work, as well as a five year reflection on our SDG impact. While acknowledging our collaborative efforts, the report is also upfront about the work still to be done regionally, nationally and globally addressing just transitions for a more sustainable future.

2022 - Unlocking Impact

Unlocking Impact showcases our enduring work and impact across Curriculum, Operations, Research and Engagement (C.O.R.E) on this vital agenda. In this years report we have profiled local, regional and international policy and practice work being undertaken, and included a new dashboard for our Sustainability and Resilience 2030 Decadal Strategy.

2021 - Reimagining Western

Reimagining Western outlines how we, as a University community, have responded to these crucial demands of our time. In this report we focus on how we have ‘reimagined’ our work across our curriculum, operations, research and engagement (C.O.R.E), such as tackling climate, undertaking cutting-edge research and transforming curriculum.

2020 - Challenging Times

Challenging Times highlights how we have and will continue to move forward with meaningful impact for this vital work across our C.O.R.E (Curriculum, Operations, Research and Engagement) framework. For this annual report, and in recognition that our sustainability and SDG commitments, we have included sections on Australia’s bushfires and COVID-19.

2019 - Just Sustainability

Just Sustainability showcases our achievements over 2019 and considers the challenges for an equitable and sustainable future for Western Sydney. It highlights, showcases and aligns our work to the SDGs.

2018 - Transforming Our Future

Transforming Our Future reflects our long standing commitment to sustainability and our region. The report showcases our 2018 achievements across our CORE areas (Curriculum, Operations, Research and Engagement) and emphasises the connections and linkages to the SDGs.

2017 - Western Sydney Matters

Western Sydney Matters highlights the importance of our region and the sustainability challenges that come with this, and how we are working collaboratively with our partners to address these issues.

2016 - Thoughtfully Acting Differently

2015 - Driving Sustainability

Our first institutional sustainability report Driving Sustainability: A Roadmap to Success highlights how Western takes a broad, interdisciplinary approach to sustainability and key initiatives to support this.
