Research Scholarships Program

The Research Scholarships Program allows undergraduate students to learn more about university research by providing the opportunity for a placement in a formal research environment supervised by leading Western Sydney University academics. Students gain experience in carrying out a research project and presenting their findings via a written report and presentation.

The University offers students a range of project choices in various Schools and Institutes across a number of research fields that change each year, with the view of encouraging students to consider a HDR study pathway at the completion of undergraduate study.

This initiative is a joint venture of the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research and Enterprise, and Jobs on Campus.

Research Scholarships Program – Winter Scholarships 2025

The Winter Scholarship Program in 2025 comprises a short intensive period of 2 weeks (commencing 30 June 2025), followed by a longer 12-week experience which will enable students to become engaged with a research program over a longer period (completion date is 10 October 2025).

Applications for students to participate in the 2025 Winter Research Scholarship Program have now closed.

List of Projects

The projects available for students to apply to will be listed here when a round of the program is open to receive applications. Students can nominate up to three projects of interest. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate project preferences, the selection committee has the final determination over the allocation of projects.

Scholarships

A scholarship is offered to all students whose application is successful. Each scholarship is valued at $3150. Students receive the scholarship in four instalments over the course of the program.

Scholarships are available to undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate subjects at Western Sydney University and are awarded on a competitive basis. Successful students are required to present the results of their research by seminar and submit a research report on completion of their project.
