Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Research, Training and Supervision 2024: Professor Srinath Perera
Professor Srinath Perera received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Research, Training and Supervision at the Western Sydney University Excellence Awards Ceremony, held on 12 December 2024. He was selected from among seven nominees. Professor Perera is an exceptional supervisor who has immensely contributed to postgraduate research training and supervision at Western Sydney University. He has mentored and supervised 29 Higher Degree Research students over the past 8 years, guiding them to academic and professional success. His students have produced high-quality research outputs, including co-authored papers in leading journals and industry-collaborated projects with real-world impacts. As Director of the Centre for Smart Modern Construction, he instils a strong collaborative research culture through initiatives such as industry-academic roundtables and workshops, ensuring his students are deeply engaged with both academia and industry.
WSU CIB Student Chapter - Annual General Meeting 2024/2025
The Annual General Meeting and Elections of the Western Sydney University CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction) Student Chapter was held on 13 November 2024 at the Kingswood Campus of Western Sydney University to establish the executive committee for 2024/25.

Construction Digitalisation Research Colloquium and Book Launch
The Construction Digitalisation Research Colloquium and the book launch, hosted by the Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC) at Western Sydney University’s School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, was held successfully on 23 October 2024.
The event highlight was the launch of the book “Managing Information Technology Projects: Building a Body of Knowledge in IT Project Management”, edited by Professor Srinath Perera and Dr Robert Eadie and published by World Scientific.
Introduction to the NSW Planning Portal
The Centre for Smart Modern Construction (c4SMC) successfully hosted an engaging presentation on the “Introduction to the NSW Planning Portal” at Western Sydney University’s Parramatta City Campus on 30 September 2024. This event was held in collaboration with the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), the Building Commission NSW, and was sponsored by Coronation Property.
