She is a Gamillaroi Woman from the Northwest of New South Whales, a single mother of two and a grandmother. As an artist, Aunty Elly draws on the piece of mind that spending time on Country provides. Her work explores the living essence of landscape, and Aunty Elly’s connection to the land and her sense of belonging is the narrative which she lives her life by. In 2022, Aunty Elly received the Blue Mountains Local Woman of the Year Award for her significant contributions to the Blue Mountains Community. As a skilled educator and environmentalist, Aunty Elly regularly presents workshops to schools and land care groups about viewing land from an Indigenous perspective. Aunty Elly provides talks on Indigenous Design, the incorporation and celebration of Indigenous history, and shares her own story on resilience as a child of the Stolen Generation. As an actor, she has appeared in feature films such as The Australia, and most recently Smoke Between Trees. Aunty Elly’s talents within the art sector span across multiple disciplines, with her creations being exhibited wildly across exhibitions and being sold at Bilingarra Art Gallery. Through the medium of paint, specifically acrylic, Aunty Elly provides commissioned works to individuals and small to large corporations, including painting workshops. |

He has published a small booklet ‘The Dharug Story’, an Aboriginal History of Western Sydney, Earth Journeys and The Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute describe a little about his work. As an artist Chris works in traditional colours; red, yellow, white and black. His use of ochres and acrylics on a black background is striking.Chris coordinates Aboriginal presentations for small groups, large school groups, private tours and for hotel guests. Chris also works on commissions for government bodies, small business and community organizations. Recently Chris has been asked to present and welcome students at Macquarie University and in Canberra. While working with National Parks he also co-ordinates other Aboriginal rangers to deliver cultural presentations as well as teaching large groups of children about ochres, weapons, Dharug language, painting, dancing and Aboriginal games. |
