RESEARCH STREAMS

Our research explores four interconnected areas that shape how young people and their communities experience and build resilience in contemporary society: learning and work; participation and engagement; health and wellbeing; and places and platforms. Rather than studying them in isolation, we work across streams and disciplines to explore multiple themes at the same time.

Reinventing Learning and Work

We explore how technology can help young people learn, work and manage changes in their lives. We also identify the skills people need for the future and how schools and workplaces can better support young people.

Realising Youth Participation and Engagement

We explore how technology can help young people have a stronger voice in decisions that affect them. We also help governments and organisations listen and respond to young people from different backgrounds and circumstances.

Enhancing Health and Wellbeing

We explore how digital technology can help young people stay physically and mentally healthy. We also look at possible risks and inequalities, and develop safer and fairer approaches in health for children and young people.

Activating Places and Platforms

We explore how the places young people spend time, both online and offline, shape their identity, sense of belonging and wellbeing. We also study how new technologies are changing these spaces and young people’s experiences of them.
