The Challenge

Peri-urban regions will have adequate water supplies and land available for different critical uses if potable water, stormwater, effluent and groundwater usage and land development  is harmonised through regionally ‘integrated water and land resources planning’. Challenges to this planning are:

• Water and land resources are managed by numerous entities with limited co-ordination,
• Limited understanding of the impacts of land use changes on water cycle and water productivity,
• A plethora of water and land data and reports scattered across agencies.
