Kevin Rozzoli

Kevin Rozzoli is the Chair of the WISER Group and has had a lifetime interest in land use planning and water management. Initially elected as an alderman of Windsor Municipal Council he went on to serve in the Legislative Assembly in New South Wales for 30 years as the Member for Hawkesbury. For many years he promoted a single river authority to tackle the complex planning and administrative challenges facing the Hawkesbury-Nepean river system resulting, in 1993, in the establishment of the Hawkesbury-Nepean Catchment Management Trust of which he was Deputy Chairman until it was disbanded in 2000. He has been Deputy Chairman of the Hawkesbury Nepean Aquatic Weeds Task Force and a member of the Regional Advisory Committees for REP 20(2) and the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment REP.

Currently Chair of the Great River Walk Inc. and East Bend Rural Communications, an environmental group based at Maroota. Several years ago he visited the United Kingdom to examine river management systems including the Mersey, Thames and Parrett Rivers. He has written articles for the Sydney Morning Herald on planning and environment issues and written a number of papers and articles on environmental matters.
He was made a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2008 for service to the New South Wales Parliament, and to the community of Greater Western Sydney through a range of environmental protection, health and welfare, and educational organisations.

In 1999 he was honoured by Western Sydney University, receiving a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his services to the University and to Western Sydney and again in 2003 when he received a Regional Partnership Award.
