Basant Maheshwari

Professor Basant Maheshwari has over 25 years professional experience in research, teaching, consulting and developmental work relating to a range of water issues and challenges, including water recycling, environmental hydrology and urban and rural irrigation management. During the last five years, his work focussed on peri-urban water and its interactions with the landscape and involved modelling and analysing the water cycle for long-term water resource planning at regional level. This required understanding the implications of social, economic, cultural, policy and institutional aspects of water cycle management. His work also involved engaging community, government agencies and other stakeholders to tackle significant, local water issues, and developing tools and strategies to enhance regional water security.
