Flu Vaccination 2021
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of University staff and the greater Western Sydney community, we would like to offer staff the opportunity to receive a free influenza (flu) vaccination.
Behaviours such as frequent hand washing and physical distancing kept the flu virus transmission low in 2020 however the easing of restrictions around physical distancing may allow for wider spread of flu viruses this year.
This comes at an important time, given the concurrent roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination program. The Australian Government recommends waiting 14 days between getting a flu vaccination and a COVID-19 vaccination, so please ensure you plan both with plenty of time in between.
Important things to plan for:
- if you are in earlier phases for COVID-19 vaccination, you should get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon you can. You can then plan your flu vaccination.
- if you are in later phases for COVID-19 vaccination, you should get the flu vaccine as soon as you can. This will ensure you are ready to get your COVID‑19 vaccine when it is available to you.
You can check what phase you are in using the COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Checker.
The flu vaccinations will be available from a qualified practitioner at the following campuses:
To book an appointment time, please click on the Booking Link and follow the prompts. You will be directed to complete a consent form online at the time of your booking and can elect if you wish to receive a text or email appointment reminder.
Please note: This year the Australian Government has made it mandatory for all flu vaccinations to be registered on the Australian Immunisation Register. This means you will be asked to supply your Medicare number on your consent form. If you are not registered with Medicare you can still continue with your booking.
Pharmacy vouchers are also available for staff who are unable to attend campus on the scheduled dates above. The pharmacy vouchers will be accessible through the same Booking Link and will expire on 15 June 2021.
