Safety management system
Western Sydney University is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. As such, the University has developed a Work Health Safety and Wellbeing Management System.
The University's WHS & Wellbeing Management System is divided into three main parts:
- Governance and management framework - Policies
- Health and safety standards and processes - Procedures
- Tools for implementation - Forms and guidelines
The WHSW unit has developed and maintains the following health and safety policies:
- Accident, injury, incident, hazard reporting and investigation policy
- After hours access and safety policy
- Injury management policy
- First aid policy
- Sun protection policy
- Smoking policy
- Work health and safety policy
These policies are currently in the process of being updated to reflect best practice. A number of significant changes are expected including the renaming of the Accident, injury, incident, hazard reporting and investigation policy and the After hours access and safety policy.
The WHSW unit has developed and maintains the following procedures:
- Hazardous substances and dangerous goods procedure
- Hazard identification, risk assessment and control procedure
- WHSW issue resolution procedure
These procedures are currently in the process of being updated to reflect best practice. A number of significant changes are expected including the renaming of the Hazardous substances and dangerous goods procedure, and the Hazard identification, risk assessment and control procedure.
