Winner - Individual

Professor Donald McNeill

Professor Donald McNeill, Professor of Urban and Cultural Geography, Institute for Culture and Society

Professor Donald McNeill is a major scholar who has demonstrated remarkable external grant success, consistent excellence in publications, and ongoing high-level research supervision and mentoring.  He has the rare record of completing three ARC projects over the last three years, including a highly prestigious Future Fellowship.  He has recently written a significant single-authored book, Global Cities and Urban Theory, and built a high-impact cluster of post-doctoral and PhD students in the field of smart cities and digital economies.  He is clearly one of the most important academics at the University in building a profile of university engagement in urban policy.

Winner - Team

Growing Up Queer Research Team

The Growing Up Queer research team is making outstanding contributions to increasing awareness of the social, cultural, economic, and educational factors impacting the equity experiences and health and well-being of young Australians who identify as gender and/or sexuality diverse, or questioning these aspects of their identity.  Prominent politicians, Children's and Human Rights Commissioners, government and community organisations, and academics have extensively cited the 'Growing Up Queer' research report to influence policy decisions and to inform best practice for working with young people.  The team was a core group in the Engaging Creativity Program of the Young and Well CRC.
