Let us hear from you so we can identify how things are going and continually improve your experience.
Your participation in the Staff Culture and Engagement Survey helps us to understand how connected you are to the University, our strategic vision, and your role. Your honest and open feedback is vital to our ability to truly understand our people.
The secure platform of our survey partner, Culture Amp, has the ability to keep responses confidential as the tool will only return insights and results when the data sample is greater than 10 responses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who should complete the survey?
All ongoing, fixed term, and casual staff from Western and The College, both professional and academic, are asked to complete the survey.
Is the survey anonymous?
Yes, survey responses are completely anonymous. The results are collected using a secure CultureAmp website, and IP addresses cannot be tracked. Results will be compiled independently by CultureAmp and we will not have access to the raw survey data or individual survey responses.
CultureAmp will analyse the results and produce a number of reports. Survey results will not be reported for areas of the University where less than ten staff have answered, to protect staff anonymity.
CultureAmp will be able to identify completion rates for work areas based on employment figures provided by the University and The College, but not whether individual staff members have completed the survey.
Why should I complete the survey?
The survey aims to measure staff engagement across a range of areas, for example, organisational direction, leadership, facilities, resources, job satisfaction, and learning and development. Feedback received will be measured alongside a broad range of management practices, to find out how we are performing in these areas.
Your feedback contributes to the collective pulse of the organisation and acknowledges what is tracking well, and lets us know where need to focus our improvement efforts. Your response to the survey will help to inform people-focused initiatives and policies, enabling Western's ability to address challenges, spark innovation and drive meaningful change.
Are the survey questions specific to Western
The majority of the survey questions are standard questions used by universities across Australia. This will enable us to benchmark the results with other universities.
A small percentage of the questions have been customised for the University and The College to gain feedback on specific initiatives.
What type of questions does the survey ask?
Most of the survey questions are statements which require you to rate how much you agree/disagree with the statement. For example, "I am aware of the vision senior management has for the future of Western Sydney University".
The survey concludes with open-ended questions allowing you to provide a more detailed response if required.
How do I access the survey?
Staff will receive an email with a unique link to the survey. The survey will be accessible from any computer or device with internet access.
How long does the survey take?
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Why does the survey include a ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ profile?
Western is an employer of choice and strives to make the University a place where staff feel they belong, and their diverse perspectives are valued. The Diversity and Inclusion profile data enables the University to better understand workplace challenges and work to optimise the experience of staff, ensuring our policies and procedures reflect our intent as inclusive employer.
