Biography

Sandra Garrido is a Senior Research Fellow in Brain Sciences at the MARCS Institute for Brain Behaviour & Development.

She completed her PhD at the University of New South Wales and has also worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

With a background in both music history and psychology, her work focuses on the use of music for mood regulation and to improve mental health and wellbeing in both historical and modern day contexts.

She is a Committee member of the Australian Music and Psychology Society, and a member of the editorial board of the esteemed journal Musicae Scientiae. She has also previously been a member of the National Committee of the Musicological Society of Australia.
