Biography

Nicole Peel is a Senior Lecturer in Recreation Therapy in the School of Health Sciences at Western Sydney University. Nicole holds a doctorate in philosophy from Western Sydney University and has completed a B. Leisure Studies M. Health Science and a M. Business Administration. Nicole is an established practitioner with over 30 years of experience in working with people with an intellectual disability, people with a physical disability, people who are ageing, adolescents or marginalised individuals.

Nicole’s research focuses on the principles of trauma informed care and therapy with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups to assist with progressing their lives within complex and complicated support systems. She focuses on co-design principle for sustained changes in communities. Her expertise is in communicating research into practical applied processes that makes a meaningful difference.
