Biography

Dr Jane Graves is an Associate Lecturer in Medical Education at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University. She is the Personal and Professional Development (PPD) Convener for first and second year, providing student academic support, maintaining a dynamic and current curriculum and leading these teaching teams. Jane's key teaching areas include PPD from Year 1-5 and Problem Based Learning (PBL). Her research supports the exploration of the Medical Education PPD curriculum, in particular compassion fatigue in medical students. She also supports Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), academic writing and referencing skills, interprofessionalism, and is an LBGTQIA+ advocate at a school level.

Jane Graves

Dr Jane Graves received a Bachelor of Science with a major in anatomy from the University of New South Wales in 1990 and completed a Master of Chiropractic at Macquarie University in 1993. Dr Jane Graves (B.SC, MChiro & AHPRA registration) has practiced as a Chiropractor continuously since 1994, founding one allied health clinic and one chiropractic practice in NSW. Jane currently maintains a chiropractic shift a week in a multidisciplinary physiotherapy practice.

Jane’s academic career commenced in the School of Science and Health at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) in 2003. From 2003 to 2009 she worked as the Remedial Massage Uniclinic Manager, Lecturer and Unit Coordinator. In 2010 and 2011 Jane was Head of the Naturopathy Program at UWS. From 2010 to 2014 Jane worked as a casual academic in the School of Science and Health at UWS in the areas of Professional Competencies in Health, Culture, Health and Diversity and Communication in Health. In 2013 and 2014 she commenced academic employment in the School of Medicine.
