Facilitators and Barriers to Effective Implementation of Indigenous Models of Care in Mainstream Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment

THRI is offering a research scholarship to a highly motivated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander PhD candidate to work with an academic and clinical research group exploring Indigenous models of care for alcohol and other drugs (AOD). The project will explore the facilitators and barriers to adopting an Indigenous model of care in mainstream AOD services.

Evaluating Aftercare-services in Preventing Suicidal Behaviour in Western Sydney

THRI is offering a research scholarship to a highly motivated PhD candidate to work within a research group that is partnering with WSLHD to investigate the effectiveness of (i) established mental health services delivering aftercare to those who present to services in suicidal crisis or following a suicide attempt on subsequent incidence of hospital treated attempted suicide; and (ii) community based services to provide crisis care on subsequent incidence of hospital treated attempted suicide. The project will involve epidemiological analyses of a range of linked administrative datasets to address project objectives.

Optimising Primary Health Care Service Trajectories to Reduce Preventable Hospitalisation and Avoidable Emergency Department Presentations

THRI is offering a research scholarship to a highly motivated PhD candidate to work within a research group that is partnering with WentWest Ltd, WSPHN, to evaluate the effectiveness of primary health care services on potentially preventable hospitalisation and leading causes of chronic illness. The project will involve statistical analyses of a range of linked administrative datasets to address project objectives, and the development of analytic tools that can inform local clinical decisions and identify sub-population at risk of key chronic disease outcomes.
