Q&A: Dr Kerry Chant PSM, NSW Health’s Chief Health Officer and Deputy Secretary Population and Public Health

On Friday 10 August, THRI will be hosting a presentation and Q&A session with Dr Kerry Chant PSM, on a number of initiatives within NSW Health relevant to Western, including the Translational Research Grants Scheme (TRGS).

TRGS funds research projects that will translate into better patient outcomes, health service delivery, and population health and wellbeing. The scheme provides grants to staff within NSW local health districts, specialty health networks, the Ambulance Service of NSW and NSW Health Pathology. Applicants are encouraged to partner with other research organisations such as universities and medical research institutes (although research projects must be led by an employee of a host organisation within the health system). The scheme is designed to accelerate the development of research capability and evidence translation within NSW Health.

Dr Chant’s presentation and Q&A will be followed by several short presentations from Western researchers on programs that link to our public health system.

This event is a great opportunity to learn about initiatives within NSW Health and how Western can make the most of these programs. Afternoon refreshments will be served after the presentations.
