PhD Student Gabriela Uribe attended the 5th Cross-Cultural Health Care Conference in Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawai'i on February 17-18 2017. She presented her PhD project entitled 'Important considerations when providing mental health first aid (MHFA) to Iraqi refugees: development and pilot evaluation of a tailored program to community-based workers in Australia'.

This conference was a great opportunity to showcase addressing cultural diversity in the community and clinical care, enhancing cultural dexterity and reducing disparities in health care. This conference also centered on other topics such as inter-professional approaches to community health training, services and social determinants of mental health.
