2. Can I reduce my study load?

Requests for a reduced study load can only be made for academic reasons or as a result of extenuating circumstances.  To request a reduced study load for academic reasons, please make an appointment with your First Year Experience Coordinator. If your request is for extenuating circumstances, you will need to make an appointment with the Student Advisor.  You must have appropriate documentary evidence to support your request. For more information, please review the application.

3. Can I take a leave of absence?

You can only apply for a leave of absence if you are experiencing extenuating circumstances that are beyond your control. To apply for a leave of absence, please make an appointment with the Student Advisor. You must provide documentary evidence to support your request. For more information, contact Student Central on 1300 668 370 or email studentcentral@westernsydney.edu.au.

4. What happens if I am away from class?

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) states that international students must attend at least 80% of their classes to fulfil their visa requirements. You will be marked absent from class even if you have a medical certificate. The College must inform DIBP if a student does not comply with the requirements of their student visa. For this reason, it is your responsibility to check the requirements of your visa before taking leave.

5. How can I extend my CoE?

You will need to make an appointment with the Student Advisor to complete an information request form. You can find out more information by accessing the International Student Intervention Policy.

6. Can I change my course?

You can only apply for an internal course transfer after finishing 6 months of your principal course (i.e. bachelor). Please get in touch with Student Central on 1300 668 370 or studentcentral@westernsydney.edu.au for more information.

7. Can I transfer to another education provider?

If you want to change to a new course and you were granted a visa under the streamlined visa processing arrangements, you must maintain enrolment in a streamlined visa processing eligible course (or package of courses) with an education provider participating in the arrangements.

If you have not completed six months of your principal course (the main course of study you are undertaking) and you want to change your education provider, the ESOS National Code sets out the circumstances in which this will be possible. Unless special circumstances apply, you are usually required to have the permission of your existing education provider in order to transfer to another education provider.

To request a Release Letter from The College in order to transfer to another education provider, please make an appointment with the Student Advisor. You will be required to provide documentary evidence to support your request including a Letter of Offer from another provider. There are no guarantees that your request will be granted.

Any international student who is holding any other kind of temporary residence visa is not subject to the National Code; hence, is not subject to this policy.
