Only new students with new course offers can apply to defer.

You cannot apply to defer if you:

  • If you have changed your course through a course variation form
  • Are a current (continuing) student who has commenced study at Western Sydney University in the previous session
  • Have received an offer for a previous session and this offer has lapsed
  • Have applied to study as a Non-Award or Cross Institutional student

» If you have changed your course through a course variation form or are a continuing student, you will need to apply for a Leave of Absence using the Discontinuation or break from studies form (available online or at any Student Central). You can also send an email (from your student email account), directly to studentcentral@westernsydney.edu.au requesting a leave of absence (without using the form).
» If you are an international student, you will need to contact International Admissions to discuss your possible deferment.

I have received an offer

You can defer your offer to a new course before the first census date through My Student Records (MySR). Once you’ve received your offer, simply:

  • Log into MySR (opens new window);
  • Click on the ‘Enrol’ tile;
  • Select the “Defer this offer” option for your course;
  • Follow the steps to confirm your deferment

Once your deferment has been processed, a successful message will display on the screen. We will also send you an email to confirm you’ve deferred your offer.

Please note that you can’t defer your offer once you’ve enrolled in units. If you are enrolled in units and decide you would like to defer before your first census date, please email admissions@westernsydney.edu.au with your request.

Census dates for each teaching session are can be found here.
