Biography

Tanya Meade is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and a Director of Clinical and Health Psychology Research Initiative (CaHPRI) in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology.

Professor Meade is an experienced researcher who received a PhD in 2001 from the University of Sydney in the area of clinical health psychology (biopsychological aspects of rheumatoid arthritis) and is a Research Fellow at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney.         

A clinical and health psychologist, Professor Meade's research interests are in complex physical and mental health co-morbidities (pain and depression in rheumatoid arthritis; pregnancy in the context of a chronic condition, depression and cognitive function in older adults) and various aspects of deliberate self-harm (assessment, function and co-morbidities). Over the last few years Professor Meade has held competitive research grants totaling over $1.3 million (two ARC Linkages, one BeyondBlue).

Professor Meade was most recently Director of Academic Programs- Clinical Psychology and Therapy Studies, Associate Head of School (Research) and Course Advisor for Higher Degree Research at Western Sydney University, and a Faculty Representative on the University of Sydney's Convocation Council. She contributes to the governance of external organisations such as Arthritis NSW (Research Committee) and the Australian Psychological Society (Past Chair CoHP NSW), is a member of professional organisations including the APS (College of Clinical Psychologists, College of Health Psychologists), and research networks such as OMERACT.
