Biography

Dr Sepani Senaratne joined Construction Management discipline in the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at the University of Western Sydney in December 2012. Prior to this, Dr Senaratne was a senior lecturer of the department of Building Economics and also the Director of Postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture at University of Moratuwa. She has nearly 14 years of experience as a university lecturer in Sri Lanka and also as a part-time lecturer in UK, while she was pursuing her PhD.  She obtained her PhD from the School of the Built Environment, University of Salford, United Kingdom in 2005. She has a first class in B.Sc (honours) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.

Research

Dr Sepani Senaratne is available for Higher degree research supervision. Her research interests are mainly in construction management and could be grouped into three areas: knowledge management, construction project management and organisation management in construction. Recently, she has stepped into sustainable construction research. She has prior experience in higher degree supervision and currently co-supervising several PhD research students in Sri Lanka.

Dr Senaratne is a regular reviewer for a number of leading international journals and conferences. Dr Senaratne has served as a co-chairperson of several scientific committees in international research conferences held in Sri Lanka. She has also received several best papers awards at international research conferences and also Emerald Awards of Excellence for Highly Commended Paper in 2009. Acknowledging her research performance, she received the Outstanding Research Performances Award by the University of Moratuwa, every year since 2008 to 2011. Dr.Senaratne has involved in several international and industry-funded research projects, while attached to University of Salford,UK (2002-2005) and also as the research director of the department of Building Economics’research unit in Sri Lanka (2006-2012).
