Biography

Doctor Raju obtained his PhD in organic chemisty from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Robert J Capon. Immediately after this he took up a Postdoctoral research position in Prof Rolf Muellers lab at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research in Saarland, Germany. Having spent three years in Germany working on the isolation of novel secondary metabolites from microbes led to the publication in several high imact journals along with a patent on the novel antibiotics "Cystobactamides". 

Upon returning to Australia in 2014, he joined Prof. Gerald Muench's lab in the department of Pharmacology as a Post-doctoral research fellow, working on the discovery of novel anti-inflammatory compounds from Indigenous plants. In 2016, Doctor Raju also entered into a teaching role as a PBL tutor in the school of medicine.

His interest lies in the areas of pharmacology (mainly pharmacognosy), analytical, organic chemistry and biochemistry. Throughout his career till date he has discovered a countless number of novel secondary metabolites and has a high level of expertise in the area of NMR spectroscopy.
