Doctor Michelle Sanson

Biography

Michelle does a combination of academic and humanitarian work. She served for three years as Senior Lecturer and First Year Coordinator/Advisor for the School of Law, and more recently has been involved in teaching Human Rights Law and curriculum consulting work. Prior to coming to UWS/WSU, Michelle worked for five years as a law academic at the University of Technology, Sydney, and held a variety of roles, including Director of Undergraduate Programs and coach of award-winning moot teams. She entered academia from practice, having worked for three years with Blake Dawson Waldron on international trade and transport law.

With a PhD in international law, a Master of Education in Adult Education and a Bachelor of Business, Michelle is author or co-author of five books, covering introductory law, statutory interpretation, international law and global governance, international trade law and international commercial arbitration. She has served as Associate Director of the New South Wales Centre for Legal Education; Associate Editor for the Legal Education Digest; Editor in Chief of the Legal Education Review; and continues as Executive Editor. Michelle has also undertaken a range of international projects, including human rights related work for Lawyers Without Borders in Namibia and Sierra Leone, and humanitarian work in Afghanistan, South Sudan, Laos, the Philippines and the Middle East.
